Deerskin Gloves With Thinsulate® Lining

This is a review of Geier G204ESLDI, medium weight Deerskin gloves with elastic back and 100g Thinsulate lining, size 9.5 (men's). I bought these to replace another brand of Deerskin/Thinsulate gloves that I've had for many years. The leather was finally starting to wear through.They've been great gloves so I was glad to find another pair in deerskin/thinsulate, which is a good combination for driving a car in winter temperatures. These Geier gloves seem to have slightly thicker leather along with 100 grams of Thinsulate (vs. 40 grams in my old gloves). I was a little disappointed to find that even with the heavier insulation, my hands were getting cold after about 5 minutes in 17 degree (F) temperatures. So, don't expect these to be adequate for severe cold. Heavy mittens would be better for that. The stitching on these appears to be excellent, with almost no stitches exposed on the underside except for where the 2 middle fingers attach. So they should be easy to waterproof. They are very soft. After measuring my hands at 8.5 I sized up 1/2 size to 9, which were uncomfortably tight so I returned them for 9.5. The 9.5s fit my hands like, well, a glove. Just a bit snug, which may be ideal before break-in (although a half size larger, 10, might be warmer). The Old Tranding Post seems to be a very small operation, with good service but not necessarily super fast in getting their orders out. The glove price is high but I guess you get what you pay for, compared to cheap imports.
